World Book Day 2022

11th Feb 2022. Another amazing half term completed. In PSHE, we have looked at our inner and outer personalities celebrating all the things we love about ourselves while celebrating all the things that make us unique. In history, we have continued both a local Victorian study of Fleetwood and a wider British area. Invasion and ballroom dancing skills have been developed during P.E. During computing, we have used our developing coding skills to create our own computer games. In science, we have continued learning the function of the heart and the human circulatory system. We have found our pulses and have learned how the heart beats faster to increase the supply of oxygen around the body. In maths we have drawn 2d and 3d shapes working out perimeter, area and volume. We have drawn bar charts, line graphs, scatter graphs and very tricky pie charts before finally interpreting the data involved. In English comprehension we have been increasing our vocabulary range whilst in writing we have started our work on 'The Island'. It's been a jam packed curriculum but the children have been amazing!

Manchester Museums Trip - 12th Jan 2022. We had the best time ever. First up was a trip to the Imperial War Museum where we delved into real life accounts from both world wars. We saw a range of artillery vehicles, military aircraft and uniforms. Whilst being in the heart of Media City, we took advantage of many tv photo opportunities including Countdown and Coronation Street. Our final destination was the Van Gogh art exhibition where our visual and auditory senses were taken to sensory overload in a spectacular presentation. What a fab day!

Dec 2021. We have been busy this half term. In maths we have started to use the four operations for fractions while looking at solving the equivalent word problems. We have explored geometric shapes and their properties while also plotting Xmas themed coordinates We have focussed on Charles Dickens as our literary text, writing Victorian setting descriptions, film reviews and letters. In science we have begun our study of light. In computing we have created digital art as part of our Xmas display. In P.E. we have continued our excellent practise in athletics while moving onto invasion games in preparation for upcoming inclusion and competition events in dodgeball. Amy is teaching us how to ballroom dance and it's such amazing fun. Xmas decorations week was a smash with the children practising their sewing , pom pom and artistic sketching skills. Beach school has been fab, we've taken part in a fire safety talk and taken part in the anti- bullying day wearing our odd socks. What an amazing half term children - well done!

20th October 2021. We have been celebrating Abba's new computing avatar song "Don't shut me down". We decided top use our coding and digital art skills to recreate ourselves as avatars. Can we join the band please?

20th October 2021. We have been coding in computing, sketching and shading in art, perfecting our personal bests in athletics, studying adaptations and evolution in science, learning about the 5k's in sikhism, learning our dance and lyrics in music, writing and performing poetry and other literacy genres, calculating in mathematics and submerging ourselves in the WW2 class reading books of Once and Then.

Returning to our first key stage assembly in 18 months was very emotional. Also, the children have been designing and creating their family shields ready for our display.
