  Shakespeare School Interventions

Challenge                   Critical Thinking                  Curiosity

At Shakespeare Primary School, we want to make sure that all of our children achieve their full potential.

We achieve this through providing quality first teaching in every classroom which is inclusive and collaborative. Through expert AFL practices, our skilled staff access the needs of our children and intervene as required to ensure they understand and move learning on!  This means our staff use reactive ‘in the moment’ intervention through a range of effective teaching strategies which ensure lessons cater for the varying and individual needs of the children in the class.

We recognise that all children may need additional support at various points in their learning in order to: grasp new learning, consolidate skills, build confidence and gain independence. Therefore, an intervention outside of the lesson may be necessary to further support a child's development in order to ‘Keep up… not… Catch up’ within a particular area of need.

In our school, teachers devise and plan interventions carefully using a wide variety of strategies and programmes. Children may experience an intervention in a larger group, smaller group or on a 1:1 basis depending on their individual needs. This may be linked to a specific area of the curriculum, communication and interaction or pastoral care. We continuously review, monitor and measure the impact of these interventions, making adjustments as required.
