Our Spring Term Newsletter

Here is some information about your child's class teachers.

Pictures from our trip to Wimbledon to see the tennis and from our tour of London afterwards.

We have been competing in Fleetwood High School's coding competition. It was also nice to see some of our ex-pupils helping out on the day too.

Some pictures of our Model Pupil assembly and the school head boys and girls, who were elected by Year 5.

We have a teacher from the life education team in today telling us all about our bodies, drugs and ways we can keep ourselves healthy.

We have had a visit from a history teacher who taught us all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

Our prefects have now been chosen for next year.

This week as part of our learning about forces we have been testing different materials to see which ones have the most friction.

5H have been doing beach school again. We have been learning about the Vikings and conducting investigations on different beach areas.

For Science day we have been experimenting with parachutes. The children have been producing bin bag parachutes then changing them to see how the size of the parachute changes the rate of decent.

This week we have been programming the Lego robots to move in different ways across a mat. Children had to complete different challenges to reach various points.

Today we had a dancing competition with robots! The children had to make the Lego robots sing the best song and dance to it. Here is a video of them all dancing at once.

Today we had a visit from Corey at Fleetwood Town FC. He came to talk to us about the Rainbow Laces campaign and how sport should be for everyone.

We have made these displays after being inspired by the artwork of Jean-Michel Basquiat and the music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. You can see them in our school hall!

We have been (carefully) burning materials to see what the results are. We are investigating which reactions are reversible and which aren't.

For the conclusion to our Eco project with Birla High School in Kolkatta, India we have had a live web meeting between the two schools. Our children set out a series of commandments from Mother Earth and spoke to children in India about them.

Our Careers Fair. As part of our learning for the Jobs Junction we have invited a group of volunteers into school to talk about their careers.

Today we have been learning how to prepare food safely using knives and peelers.

This week some of our Year 5 children have been taking part in Bikeability. They have learned some key cycling skills.

Children have been ordering events throughout history.

Children have been making mixing substances together in science to see what makes a mixture and what makes a solution.

As part of our joint project with Birla High School in Kolkata, India our children have been challenged to create a PowerPoint discussing local environmental issues. Some of the children have filmed themselves talking through their PowerPoints.

We are really proud of our Christmas displays in Year Five. The children have really worked hard to produce another wonderful set this year based on our Christmas book 'Dasher'.

Children learning how to sew. We made our Christmas decorations by sewing felt together this year.

We have been designing boats from junk in DT this week, here are some of our creations.

5M have produced some more 3D landscapes in the IT suite. They've really enjoyed playing with the atmosphere and colouring the lighting too.

5H have used computers to make 3D landscapes and added pictures from our Christmas book "Dasher".

Children from 5M turned their pull string puppets into shadow puppets.

This week we have been making mechanisms for a pull string puppet as part of our DT learning.

We have started the Jobs Junction this afternoon, where we learn all about the world of work. Children have enjoyed making Quality Sweets containing their personal qualities.

As part of our Eco project with our partner school Birla High School in India we have been sharing bookmarks we have made.

5H have really enjoyed going to the beach this week and learning all about the things they can find there.

Year Five have been making repeating patterns using fish templates.
